Seeing what God sees
Before sin, humanity possessed the capability to grow infinitely. God intended for us to infinitely grow as a whole person; spiritually, mentally, socially, as well as physically. There was complete trust and love between Adam, Eve, and their Creator. Each of the faculties and senses were acutely aware of God's relationship and their relations to each other, of the biology of plants and animals, of how God watered the earth, and so much more. Each day brought new discoveries that grew the whole person. How did sin change this? In the Garden of Eden, Satan sought to disrupt this unity of love and trust between the Creator and Human beings. He does this by introducing a new mind, a mind that could only see the physical; "it was good for food, pleasant to the eye, and a tree desired to make one wise." Thus the devil seeks to control the mind through the things we consume, through appealing to sight and finally the pride of self-exultation. So, did God abandon His purpose in creating us to grow infinitely? Not at all! God never abandons His purpose, he gives Faith that we may see beyond the physical, beyond what we can see, feel and experience, to know the height, depth and love of God. Faith is seeing what God sees. God wants us to grow in all aspects of life. For this reason Jesus reminds us, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." Faith is what allows humanity to do love, to grow. Let us see by faith what God sees next time we are faced with difficulty.
