Cross Reference looks ahead to summer, fall

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Hopefully you have enjoyed the first three issues of Cross Reference ever produced. This has been a trial run for us, and with regular website hits on mtucrossreference.com and an active Facebook following, plus evidence for almost all of our 500 print copies being picked up each issue, we are confident that this is only the beginning of this unique campus ministry.

Unlike many student organizations, our work is only beginning as the semester winds down, and we hope to accomplish a great deal over the summer. Please add our website to your favorites and check it regularly, as we will have several summer bloggers frequently submitting content. We will also be soliciting content for a large welcome back issue for Orientation and Week 1 of the Fall 2009 semester. Lord willing, this will be printed through the Daily Mining Gazette and will be available the Saturday before Orientation week.

Like many student organizations, we are facing several budgetary constraints, but we trust that God will work in a special way to uphold and further this ministry. We plan to seek advertising revenue and donations throughout the summer so that we can maintain our bi-weekly printing throughout the 2009-2010 school year.

We pray that our staff will be secured, and we will have regular office space and all the equipment necessary to put out an even better publication this fall.

If you are interested in contributing in any way, as a supporter or as a staff/guest  member, let one of our editors know or e-mail all editors through crossref@mtu.edu

In addition to direct feedback, we encourage feedback on each article through our website, which offers commentary space with each article. We also feature forums, which we intend to highlight more during the summer, given that we will not be publishing articles in regular sections.

God bless as you prepare for exam week and plan for what will no doubt be a busy summer. We look forward to your return in the fall, and we hope our ministry continues to be a blessing to you moving forward!
