"It was rock'n'roll- icious," says Ben Jensen, following the Christian metal concert in the MUB commons this past Wednesday.   Matt Radue then added "It rocked me in all my parallel universes."  As you can tell, students had a lot of fun, despite the limited turnout.  I even saw an elderly woman walking past the show who got into the fun, doing her own little jig.  The show started with band "medic! medic!" out of Iron River, whose music I'd classify as noise experimental.  It was great—their improvised beats and rifts were quite amazing, partially reminding me of the band Mute Math.

They successfully got the crowd ready for the main event: Black Pajent, the Christian metalcore band based in Gillete, Wyo.  “medic! medic!” members Josh Brindle & Seth Waters commented, "Black Pajent brought the best authentic metal to the Keweenaw since...well we don't know when! ... Clean vocal harmonies meet driving upbeat guitar work, reminiscent of In Flames and Iron Maiden, except saved by Jesus."  Student Mark Dehoog added, "Black Pajent rocked my face off.  But that's beside the point: they were totally real about who Jesus Christ is to them.  They even prayed before the show—it was awesome!"

When I asked Black Pajent for a comment, they had this to say: "If anything, seek truth, for it will inevitably lead to Christ—Do not be afraid to chase after God, to levels all others may swear to be impossible...and God bless Culvers...and Taco Bell."  I couldn't have said it better myself.
