And now for our Features presentation

An introduction to features
Thursday, March 26, 2009

With the gloom and doom of today's headlines striking fear into the hearts of many people, it is easy to get depressed and feel a sense of defeat. However, we can always be encouraged to know that even in times of moral decay and degradation, Christians are on the eventual winning side. Everything happens for a purpose and God has a reason for everything He does. The mission of this section is to encourage and strengthen Christians, even in these scary times, so that they can "stand firm against the schemes of the devil." (Ephesians 6:11-13)

This section, perhaps more than others in this newspaper will focus on resources for Christians (and others who want to know about the Christian worldview) and non-time-sensitive material (news is more for time-sensitive and opinion and entertainment are fairly straight-forward). We will also link to other well respected, credible Christian sources that we have obtained reprint rights from.

Many call the features section of a newspaper the etcetera section, and in some regards it is, but some of the more specific resources you can look forward to seeing are devotionals, Bible studies, Christian service activities, mission features, Christian faculty/athlete/student/community spotlights and columns by local pastors and Christian leaders.

Of course, we are always open to recommendations as well, and you can feel free to make any positive suggestions or constructive criticism by e-mailing me: steander@mtu.edu. If you are interested in contributing content, you can let me know what you would like to do and we can find a way to get you involved.
